Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers - CIBS - ended the year with two successful events, which were attended by many industry executives.
CIBS' 66th Annual Holiday Ball was held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the New York Hilton Grand Ballroom. CIBS members and their guests enjoyed a festive evening of dining and dancing set in a sparkling blue and white décor.
CIBS President Mario Magali of Elite Packaging, commented:
“What a great way to end the year and my tenure as President. The Holiday Ball was a magical night filled with many surprises including door prizes donated by numerous industry sponsors and keepsake photos."
CIBS also held its annual Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) Scholarship Award luncheon on December 11, 2013. The award recognizes one outstanding FIT student each year.
The 2013 FIT Scholarship Award was presented to Vanessa Quiles, of Bayonne, NJ. Quiles is in her junior year FIT, and plans to pursue a career in cosmetics/health and beauty packaging design.
Quiles said, “I chose package design as my major after a visit to Estee Lauder’s package design department and a summer internship at Revlon. I have learned so much and am looking forward to learning more and creating designs that delight the client.
CIBS' Scholarship Chairperson, Ted Boccuzzi of Advanced Distribution Systems, presented the award, along with Sandra Krasovec, associate professor, Packaging Design School of Art and Design, FIT.
All CIBS committee positions are volunteers. The 2013 Holiday Ball chairperson was Ukachi Anonyuo of The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.; and the co-chairperson was Betti Ann Catino of World Wide Packaging.

CIBS' first event of the new year will take place January 15, 2014 at a new location in New York City - OPIA, located at 130 East 57th Street.
Drew Lanza, the creative force behind the 3D/2D package design boutique, SYNTAX, will speak at the event. For reservations and more information go to www.cibsonline.com.
CIBS is a nonprofit, professional organization, which encompasses the entire packaging spectrum of the fragrance and beauty industry.
