The first Luxe Pack in Green Award to be presented at the New York show went to Airopack for its Pressurized Dispensing System. The award, which debuted several years ago at Luxe Pack Monaco, recognizes the most innovative environmentally friendly packaging solution at the show. Patrick de Vleeschouwer, global sales director, Airopack, accepted the award, which was crafted by Toscara Design.
Representatives from Airopack were among seven finalists who had the opportunity to make a private presentation to the jury during the event. The jury selected the winner based on sustainable criteria including materials, new and efficient processes and technologies and more.
Jury members were (shown in photo, L-R): Dan Denisoff, senior vice president, operations, Pernod Ricard; Stephanie Martins, VP packaging & development Americas, L'Oréal; Dr. Andrew Dent, VP library & materials research, Material ConneXion; Jamie Matusow, editor, Beauty Packaging; and Henry Renella, senior vice president for global package development, The Estée Lauder Companies. George Beylerian, founder, Material ConneXion, also participated in the judging.
Beauty Packaging magazine sponsored the award in conjunction with its April/May feature story on Environmentally Responsible Packaging. Martins and Renella are members of Beauty Packaging’s Board of Advisors.
Winning Description
Quint Kelders, CEO of Airopack, commented: “We are extremely thrilled to receive the Luxe Pack in Green award.” He said, “In the fast-moving world of packaging, it takes something pretty special to stand out. We are glad the market notices that with Airopack, we managed to achieve the almost impossible: a truly innovative environmentally friendly packaging solution that performs as well as it looks. We have worldwide patents granted on our new automatic dispenser. The platform, called Airopack, has quickly cemented our position on the world packaging stage. Our innovative Airopack dispensers are driven only by clean fresh air yet are as powerful to dispense the contents to the last drop, even when it’s sprayed upside down.”
Kelders continued, “No matter how the dispenser is held, it gives the same easy utilization. We call it the 360; Airopack can be held in any direction and the product comes out the in the same consistent way. The consumer doesn’t need to shake it and you just keep pressing the button for the same constant pressure from start to finish. This makes Airopack suited for all market segments where dispensers are being used and especially for the luxury packaging sector since Airopack brings consumer delight in practice.”
The New Dispensing Platform from Airopack is an environmentally friendly pressurized dispensing system with no environmentally toxic propellants and no unnecessary waste. Unlike other pressurized dispensers that use environmentally toxic propellants and metal cans, Airopack uses just normal compressed air in an all-plastic container, which results in dispensing a formulation at constant pressure from start to finish.
