Variblend, a supplier that specializes in custom-blending, dual-dispensing technology, held its first International Formulation Challenge contest - and a three-in-one Foundation concentrate formula has claimed the win.
Developed by Ei, A Pharmaceutical SolutionWorks, the formula is based on VariBlend’s VAR 40-2 dispenser and contains a variety of active ingredients.
The product, combined with the packaging’s dispensing technology, enable the user to customize the level of coverage it delivers. Coverage levels include a low coverage beauty balm, a medium to high coverage foundation, and a full coverage concealer.
The runner-up is the UK’s Alfa Chemicals Ltd’s Duo-Pump All-In-One Travel Kit.
VariBlend’s Robert Brands, president/CEO, said, “Skin care formulations are more complex than ever, using actives and preservative-free ingredients. Our dual dispensing platform delivers the efficacy, functionality, convenience and enhanced ergonomics that make for successful launches in today’s market.”
Judging was conducted by members of both the international formulator and Brand Innovation Manager communities. Prize money totaled $10,000, with $7,500 going to the first-place winner and $2,500 for the runner-up.
