Announced today, Knoll Printing & Packaging is a Global Compact LEAD participant. The company is being recognized for its ongoing commitment to the United Nations Global Compact and its Ten Principles for responsible business.
Knoll Packaging says it is proud to be among the most highly engaged participants of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
The UN Global Compact's profile on Knoll Packaging includes the supplier's 'Communication on Progress' report. Knoll has demonstrated its commitment to the UN Global Compact this year by participating in 'Action Platforms' on Decent Work in Global Supply Chains and Sustainable Ocean Business.
Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact, comments:
“LEAD companies represent the highest level of engagement with the UN Global Compact. More than ever before, the world needs businesses of all sizes — like the ones announced as LEAD today — that continuously work to improve their sustainability performance and take action to build a better world.”
To be eligible for LEAD, a company must be a participant in at least two UN Global Compact Action Platforms. A company must also submit an "Advanced Communication on Progress," an annual sustainability report detailing progress on implementing the Ten Principles.
Jeremy Cohen, CEO and President of Knoll Packaging, says:
"For the third year in a row, our company has been named Global Compact LEAD, which is truly one of the highest honors to receive. To be included among a small list of 37 global organizations, and the only SME in the packaging industry, is a demonstration to our ongoing commitment to the Ten Principles."
Cohen continues:
"As the world continues to navigate a pandemic, the commitment to sustainability is more important than ever. Over the last year, we have seen an extraordinary number of positive steps taken within our industry, which has us truly optimistic about the future. We are thrilled to take this leadership role to push our partners in the right direction, and we owe so much to the Global Compact for providing us the resources to do so.”
Wincy Cheng, global director of sustainability, Knoll Packaging, adds:
"Participating in the United Nations Global Compact and being involved in different action platforms guided us to make our possible contributions to sustainability. This recognition assured our effort and motivates us to escalate our commitment. Our team globally will continuously initiate different plans and actions to minimize our negative impact on our people and planet.”
Each UN Global Compact Action Platform aims to bring together businesses, leading experts, civil society, governments and UN partners to solve complex issues and innovate around Sustainable Development Goals.
Since joining the UN Global Compact in 2018, Knoll Printing & Packaging has been proud to be part of a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders. By adopting a principles-based approach to sustainability, the company says it is taking shared responsibility for building a better world.
