Once considered more of a novelty than a serious business venture, today, celebrity business owners are using their massive social followings to launch big brands and are going head-to-head with some of the best-known names in beauty.
However, with more and more celebs getting into the ‘business’ world, they are not only competing with established beauty brands but also each other.
A recent study conducted by Money.co.uk analyzed more than 182 million Google searches and 105 million social media posts to rank the top 100 celebrity-backed brands and reveal the world's hottest celebrity beauty brands.
Here are the top five hottest celebrity beauty brands according to the study:
Forbes estimates that Huda Beauty brings in around $200 million in annual sales. Kattan has also expanded into the fragrance and skin care industries.
Earlier this month, Huda Beauty reformulated its original line of Liquid Matte Liquid Lipsticks. The brand explains on Instagram that it reformulated the line because it listened to consumer comments over the years, read reviews, and "challenged our manufacturer to make the best formula possible..."
In July 2021, Coty Inc. relaunched Kylie Cosmetics with new and improved formulas that are clean and vegan, along with refreshed packaging. The updated formulas don't contain animal oils, parabens, or gluten—along with a long list of over 1,600 other potentially harmful and irritating ingredients.
With a massive 6.6 million searches and 10.2 million Instagram followers, the brand has made headlines thanks to its emphasis on inclusivity through catering to over 50 skin tones.
Fenty was also named as Beauty Packaging’s most recent Beauty Company of the Year.
