Much Anticipated Events
As I write this, next Saturday is August 6. The date has been circled on my calendar for approximately nine months. An infant car seat has been bought, baby clothes have been washed, and my hospital bag is packed. For my husband and me, August 6 points to a much-anticipated event: my due date.
As I wait for August 6 to arrive—which may or may not remain an important date in the family calendar—I am reminded of the preparation that goes into much-anticipated events.
Many of you probably have September 27-29 circled on your calendars. Plane tickets have been bought, brochures have been received, exhibition passes have been ordered. For the industry, September 27-29 points to another much-anticipated event: the Health and Beauty America Expo.
This show issue—a first for Cosmetic Packaging & Design—devotes many pages to the HBA exposition. It features information on HBA events, International Package Design Awards finalists and an exhibitor preview. We hope it will be an excellent resource for you and your company as you aim to keep up with the latest trends and innovations in the beauty industry.
A lot of the companies present will have new products to share with the attendees. There will be networking opportunities, special announcements, and honors handed out to the best of the best.
While this month’s focus is on HBA, there are also two important features in this month’s issue that deserve mention. In her article titled Spa and Spa Products, contributing editor Joanna Cosgrove delves into the growing trend of spa related products and their entry into mass markets.
Also exploring trends in our industry is Stephan Kanlian, professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY. His review of the Capstone Presentations, presented by the cosmetics & fragrance marketing and management graduating class of 2005, provides insight into a number of fascinating topics: opportunities in China, retail consolidation, creativity management and the impact of celebrity fragrances. It’s a good overview of business realities that impact today’s beauty packaging marketplace.
Enjoy this issue and we hope to see you at HBA 2005. While you are there, please stop by the Cosmetic Packaging & Design booth to say hello. We will have some company news of our own (and perhaps some baby pictures).
