Luxe Pack New York announced its 'in Green' award winners on May 8th at the Javits Center in New York.
The ceremony was hosted by Positive Luxury Co-founder, Diana Verde Nieto.
Here are the winners.
The containers feature an innovative plant-based coating. The coating provides superior protection against water, oxygen, and grease, ensuring that the contents will remain fresh and protected. The molded pulp is also lightweight, which reduces the container's environmental impact.
The innovation is that it is the first time the supplier paired an aluminum cap, rather than plastic, with its aluminum tube. Using recycled aluminum saves 95% of the energy required to produce virgin aluminum, Alltub says.
Eurovetrocap's Minerbio Mono 18/415 dropper is also a finalist. Typcial cosmetic droppers include a PP collar, NBR bulb, and glass pipette—but this dropper pack is made entirely of PP, so it is recyclable.
"Using PP for the bulb rather than nitrile halves its weight," a representative from Eurovetrocap states, "while a PP pipette is 40% lighter than a glass one. Overall, the dropper is 30% lighter."
The supplier's Product Carbon Footprint Tool calculates the impact—to the nearest gram—of all its product solutions. The impact of every material and decoration is measured, including glass, and plastic closures.
The tool is used during the product development phase to determine the Product Carbon Footprint of an individual product. It can also compare two products to help brands make more sustainable choices.
The tool can analyze different designs, bottle weights, and decoration processes, for example, and compare each.
Knoll Printing & Packaging's new factory in the Philippines is a fianlist—for its full rooftop solar array. Opened in January 2023, the plant’s 493 rooftop solar panels provide 50% of the factory’s energy consumption.
