Well, we’re already off and running in the New Year, and 2015 promises to bring a lot of change and excitement to the beauty world.
This year also marks Beauty Packaging’s 20th anniversary as an industry resource, bringing packaging suppliers and buyers together through our print publication and online community (BeautyPackaging.com); assets from mobile apps to digital editions; and special directories including our International Buyers’ Guide and Corporate Profiles (March) issues.
To celebrate, we plan to include industry highlights from the past 20 years—so please email me at [email protected] with any special recollections you may have of an innovative package, a top trend, an industry icon, the evolution of an industry organization, etc. We’ll compile them into a special report on two decades of Beauty Packaging.
As you can see by this month’s cover—and the accompanying feature article—this is our Beauty Company of the Year: Excellence in Packaging issue. The winner is selected by our online readers who nominate and vote for the company they think most deserves this title. This year, readers cast an overwhelming number of votes, and Artistry, an Amway brand, was selected as the winner. As you’ll see, the direct-sell company has done a remarkable job in turning a mismatched assortment of skin care and cosmetic products into a cohesive, recognizable collection—largely due to the strategically designed packaging.
This issue also includes some of our favorite trends stories: one on the Nail Care Market and one on Synergies Between Fragrance & Liquor Packaging. With South Korean beauty products and packaging garnering ever more attention, we’ve also included a special report on this dynamic market.
And in what has become an annual Jan/Feb issue tradition, Karen Grant, global beauty industry analyst for The NPD Group—and a member of Beauty Packaging’s board of advisors—offers her predictions for the year.
Changes are coming, and Beauty Packaging will offer you news and exclusive insight throughout 2015.
Publisher Jay Gorga and I wish you much health and happiness in the year ahead. Please stay in touch.
